Spring wire hose safety whip checks are the industry standard in low pressure air compressor hose safety.  This style is designed for one side to loop over a pneumatic tool such as the neck of a jackhammer.  The other end spring loops around the hose just like the hose to hose version.

  • 200 PSI air service rating
  • 5X safety ratio (1000 PSI burst)
  • Galvanized or 304 Stainless Steel

  • 1/2" to 1-1/4" Model:  1/8" Cable, 20" Length
  • 1" to 2" Model:  3/16" Cable, 28" Length
  • 1-1/2" to 3" Model:   1/4" Cable, 38" Length
  • 4" Model:   3/8" Cable, 44" Length

Photos showing gold colored ferrule are stainless steel model with bronze ferrule.  Standard material is galvanized steel with aluminum ferrule.

Note: Tool end may not fit your specific tool or application well.  If the tool end of the cable feels too loose or is able to slip out when flexing, do not use this style restraint.  Nylon restraints may be better suited for some instalations.

High-pressure hose connections
Except where automatic shutoff valves are used, safety chains or other suitable locking devices shall be used at connections to machines of high-pressure hose lines of 3/4-inch inside diameter or larger, and between high-pressure hose lines of 3/4-inch inside diameter or larger, where a connection failure would create a hazard.
OSHA 29 CFR § 1926.302(b)(1)
Pneumatic power tools shall be secured to the hose or whip by some positive means to prevent the tool from becoming accidentally disconnected.
